Hurunui Instructors & Training

The Hurunui District lies just 30 minutes north of Christchurch, the largest city in the South Island of New Zealand. The towns of Amberley, Cheviot and Culverden are the major urban areas. The district also has a number of villages and beach settlements.

Hurunui offers adventure, lifestyle, and a rich experience of rural New Zealand history and culture. Its many small towns offer a window into the rural heartland. Seasons vary dramatically with searing summers and snowfalls in winter. Autumn temperatures are mild with stunning seasonal colours, while exotic flowers, green pastures and lambs dominate the spring landscape.

2 Drive Safe instructors in Amberley, Cheviot & Culverden offer driver training (including the Defensive Driving Course, Driving Lessons, and Driving Test Preparation).

Duncan Seed
Lead Instructor

Duncan was born in 1967 and comes all the way from Lancashire in England. When learning to drive in the 80′s he was inspired by his own driving instructor to enjoy driving, be safe and keep learning new things. He learned to ride in the 90′s, on a Kawasaki ER5, and absolutely loved it! This later inspired him to undergo the gruelling task of becoming an approved driving instructor in the UK – which he passed with flying colours in 2001.

After moving to New Zealand in 2006, Duncan qualified as an NZTA driving instructor and approved course provider. Along the way he gained myriads of experience including: commercial training & licensing, becoming an ITO approved assessor and writer of NZQA unit standards, becoming an IAM member and examiner (for cars & bikes), and recently served as the National Vice President for New Zealand Institute of Driver Educators. So basically, he’s pretty clued up!

Duncan is an expert of explaining the ‘why do’ and showing the ‘how to’ of driving and riding. Training with him is always a fun and rewarding experience, and will build your understanding and skills so you are able to get the best from your bike or car, and New Zealand’s awesome roads.
