Competency Based Training & Assessment
Competency Based Training & Assessment (CBTA) is the new way of fast tracking through the Motorcycle (class 6) Licensing System. CBTA targets high risk riding skills and behaviours – it’s a comprehensive assessment of your riding ability and regardless of a pass or fail, you’ll get feedback on your riding skills and how improvements will help you make smarter choices on the road.
You know you’re getting the highest of standards (which means the best bang for your buck!) training with 2 Drive Safe, as we have the only Christchurch and North Canterbury Motorcycle Instructor who is an Institute of Advanced Motorists advanced rider and examiner.
Bonus Info
Competency Based Training & Assessment (CBTA) is the new way of fast tracking through the Motorcycle (class 6) Licensing System. You can choose to undertake some training to prepare you. Or you can just go for an extended riding assessment and prove you are competent.
Training time includes both theory (discussion, diagram or video) and practical on road training. Your time may be split between the two, depending on your current knowledge, skills and understanding of the requirements.
This is not an easy assessment! It is approximately 1 hours riding for the restricted, or 30 mins for the full licence assessment. If you are successful it means you don’t have to wait out the normal full length of time (of 6 months on your learners or 18 months on your restricted) . You can present your pass certificate to a licencing agent with the appropriate licence fee and bob’s your uncle - you eliminate 6 months off each stage. That’s no wait and straight up to your restricted licence, or it brings you down to just a 12 month wait for your full licence.
2 Drive Safe has gone through a rigorous process in order to provide this service. We are one of a few providers licensed to give this course around New Zealand.
